By law is a license plate bracket required on the back of the tractor? To me it makes no sense to have a bracket on the back!

I never heard of that. A plate on the front was all that was needed. Just don't have it a swingin'! ( got busted for that once)

    Panman49 and snowwy Thank this.

I don't believe the bracket is, but the license plate late in the back is required last time I checked for it in the green book.

    Panman49 Thanks this.

It is if a truck but not a tractor. If the bracket and light is there it must work so just remove them.

    Panman49 and not4hire Thank this.

Depends where you are. When my dad had trucks, he needed a license plate on the front, one on the back and one on the trailer

Only one in Pa also. Used to have the plate on the back of the tractor, 40 or so years ago. Then sometime later they wanted it on the front .Some states have 2 plates though, as i think has been said. Just hang a 1939, truck plate ,whatever state , to give something for the dot folks to look at. Pick one up at the antique shop.

    Panman49 and 201 Thank this.

Idaho only issues 1 plate for tractor... 2 for straight truck.
