Honestly, that’s horse #### pay for ready mix. Even as a new guy... I mean it’s a job but 24 an hour max?
what’s agg industries pay out there?
Im not trying to rain on the readymix parade. It’s a cool job but with the cost of living out there I feel like the pay should be better. But yeah starting out you’re not getting top pay anywhere.

I make more driving a dump truck than I did in ready mix. Yeah I break out the low bed once in a while and pull a flatbed behind my quad a lot but most my work isn’t pulling a trailer.
Class b work doesn’t always pay less. Especially in construction.FlaSwampRat and Johnny59 Thank this. -
I would highly recommend construction work though.
it’s also kind to newcomers, a lot of guys come from teaching, OTR, office jobs etc.
It’s a whole new world from regular driving. Everyone is helpful for the most part and pretty cool. Even if you don’t find a great job in construction right away you eventually will just from talking and networking with people.
another place I’d look is DOT or working for a city.FlaSwampRat and Johnny59 Thank this. -
JB Hunt intermodal ... you will sleep in the truck a few nights a week but home 2 days a week and never further then about 300 miles away from the railyards of so cal , probably rarely more that 150 miles.

For the first time in two years. I went and bought Halloween candy yesterday.
This morning, got a call to do a run. Got back at 10PM.... DOH!
Now what to do with all the candy?
EDIT: Sorry.... thought I was on a different thread... Doh!Last edited: Nov 1, 2019

@Atlanta trucker yeah you’ll see that sometimes. But like you said it all balances out when they ask you to saw cut some pavement and it’s crooked as hell. Lol.

Hitting those pneumatic tankers with a mallet or otherwise isnt always the wisest thing to do. Plus it leaves those nasty little half moon black marks all over the trailer.

Yes, make sure the trailers are in working order and use the vibrators. If you just want to hear the hollow noise to try judging where the product is, use your hand. As you get near empty, pressurize the tank and let the tank air push the product a couple times using line air ONLY to prevent a plug. The trailers will empty out.
Johnny59 Thanks this.
