    I wish

So, today was a bloody mess. Go over too Queen creek, drop scrap trailer. Start looking for load, error 404 trl not found. Tell CMC, they start looking, exactly where I looked. Call manger, find out our Trls dont really have GPS. At least not active GPS. She says its its at Queen creek. Me and the CMC guys start talking. Only conclusion, someone took it.

Sure enough we figured out who did it, fortunately he just left queen creek. He was half way through phoenix headed to Vegas (with my load going to el paso), meanwhile his load is still in queen creek. I wait around, spot some trls for CMC at 20$ a pop.

He gets there, and then it gets worse. The load was slightly too long for his tractor. (He has an OTR FB tractor, i have the long midroof with the coffin.) on his cabinet door and Ripped it open. So now i have my load but slightly damaged. Wait around another 40 minutes, CMC, finally says deliver as is.

Turns out they are 60footers. And 20 footers. Give office the diminsions, turns out texas only does 30days or more. So I now have an overlength permit for texas the next 30days. At 110ft, gee ill try to go over that.

Due to rear overhang being what it was 7'4" and a mere 78'4" total I (thanks to the way it had to be loaded for weight) had to invoke permits in AZ, NM, and TX. And dress accordingly.

Then i get too NM, and the officer clearly hadnt seen an annual permit before, discussion ensues. We laugh at the fact that im alot smaller than the permits says. And they send me on my way. For reference, my annual covers 14wide 15high 120 long, 15 off front and 25 off rear in NM. Hence the officers amusement.

But thanks to size not being too big, i am exempt from curfew, with a few exceptions in TX. So ive been lighting up I10 tonight, sorry if you saw me, my light bar is bright.

Currently parked outside Demming NM at Butterfield station.

It was 11/2/19 at around 1900. (Central time)
How many had the QC e-logs crap out?

I started the engine after being off for about 2 hours as I was cooking dinner and needed the battery power.
About a minute later (so probably unrelated) the QC gives an error.

    Everything is zeroed out.
My 70, 14 and 11 hour times all show fully charged, and the 8 hour line isn't even there any more.
All my logs for the past 8 days are gone, as well as the trip info.
Everything reset to zero and blank.

I called my terminal a bit later, after I finished dinner.
He had 19 calls in the past 30 minutes with the same thing.

I was told Qualcom has been contacted, but no response from them yet.
Did they try a software update that went south, much like Microsoft does too often?
(That's only one of the reasons I use Linux.)

If you have not had the problem yet I would suggest you certify your logs asap before it happens to you.
And certify them at every status change.
At least then there will be a backup copy to fall back on.

Didn't feel like putting to much hours in today as load doesnt deliver till monday.
Still have t given me appt time yet.
Fuel stop is at t/a in Ontario ca so probably stay there till Monday.
Logs took a dump while I was eating dinner and watching a movie. Hopefully it gets fixed

Staying at that TA is costly, but I'd rather that than stay at the JV terminal.

I was also stopped and off duty before my logs took the dump. Good thing, I think.
The only thing is.. If it isn't fixed by morning, will what is currently being recorded on my logs be merged with my old logs when it does get fixed?

I wonder if logging off for a while and then logging back on might be of use.
Doesn't that force a log update?

    FerrissWheel Thanks this.

I just spoke to my terminal again, and he mentioned something I didn't notice before.
The date on my QC is 03/18/2000.

This might have been a hack job and not a software problem.

Better keep paper logs until this is fixed.

    So, ...
I logged off for several minutes, then I shut off the battery to drain the QC of power.
Waited 7 minutes and powered back up.
    The QC powered up.
At first it showed a date of 2010, but after a minute everything went back to normal.
I logged back in and I have everything back.

All my logs are back, the trip info is back.
But then after about 5 minutes everything zeroed out again.

There seems to be a virus going around.
I imagine once a fix is available, every truck will need to get to a shop to get uninfected.
I'm lucky. When I deliver this load in KS tomorrow I am headed to Edwardsville for an A service.
