I have considered that and will definitely implement when I can. I’m actually going to try the 8/2 split as well & see which one works better. It’s definitely night and day difference (pun intended) at the truck stops during the day. I pull in for fuel sometimes or a break or whatever & it’s wide open parking and showers. I keep getting these short runs so it’s tough to set my schedule the way I prefer but it’ll get better.

I got my 3rd load delivered with no problems and picked up my 4th at the Charleston, WV terminal. I picked it up Friday after is noon & made it to the Markham terminal Saturday early afternoon so I’ll pick up some layover time and get my 34 hour reset knocked out. Racking up some good sleeper berth pay as well $$. I’ll deliver this load first thing Monday morning and hopefully get routed towards home for some time off. I need to get this truck to my home terminal so I can get it properly outfitted and see what this check engine light is about. The Mack runs great though, pulls hills really good as long as I get a good run at it and get in 9th before it slows down. It’s comfortable to sleep, I watch Directv in my iPad, plenty to eat, bed is comfortable, I only wish it had an APU so I didn’t have to idle but I guess you can’t always have everything.

Yeah I've been wondering what we can do as far as customization on the trucks. There's a couple of small vinyl stickers I'd like to put on the outside. Eventually I'd like to maybe even put my own mattress in the sleeper (the brand I use has spoiled me lol).

Btw, met with the TM Friday and things went great. I've got a couple of documents to submit to Tenstreet tomorrow, and after that he wants to set me up with the road test and DOT stuff. Two of the new hires have experience, so they'll be done with training by the end of the week.

Well, I've been out running my *ss off, I'm posted up at the terminal in High Point, NC tonight, came down from New Jersey today with a placard load. I believe this is load number 5 for me. I ended up back in the NE after delivering my last load, got out of there before the snowflakes started flying. I'm getting a little better at my trip planning, or maybe just got lucky lol! I definitely got lucky last night up in Jersey, coming down the 287 I believe with very little time left on my 14. I seem to run out of time on the 14 more than the 11. I go off duty every chance I get but my days have been starting really early. I've been hitting over 500 miles a day on my driving days, lots of loads in the 600-700 mile range. I ended up just getting off at an exit last night and hoping for a wide spot to park for the night. I found a dirt lot at an apple picking farm, saw another truck posted up there so I joined him with 3 minutes left on the clock. I use the Trucker Path app and also the Love's and Pilot apps to help me find a place but sometimes there's just nothing around. The two nights prior to that I was able to find a spot at truck spots near my deliveries. If there's a terminal nearby then it's a no brainer like tonight. This should be my last load, hopefully headed home after this one. I thought that after the last two as well lol! I told dispatch that my truck needs attention, it needs to be properly outfitted with the tools/equipment needed to do my job. Plus my bunk heater isn't working right now & it's starting to get cold. We shall see what tomorrow brings, deliver at 0600 Sherwin Williams & hopefully head south to Florida.

Definitely! That’s the most stressful part of this job for me. That and ending up on some road with no turn around

I try to plan to have at least 2 spots picked to park at whenever I travel up that way it’s hard coz there’s hardly any where to park not my favorite part of the country lol

    SurfBaker and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

Yeah that's the only downside I've really seen with the company. The vast majority of the runs tend to be east of the Mississippi. Really wish there were more western runs.
