Been there and done that. The only time they ever gave me a hassle there at all was on an oversize load. I had a wide load and wide load signs, he made me walk over to the truck stops and buy some oversize signs. Wide load signs wasn't good enough for a wide load. lol

Go up to Lubbock , Clovis to 40 Santa Rosa. 40 west to Gallup , 491 N thru Rez . To 191 in Montcellio ,191 to Hwy 6 in Price come out at Spanish Fork and North to SLC on 15 . If you get in SLC early you may find parking but if late reserve a spot , it gets crowded fast . Goodluck I do this run many times .

I’ve taken your route in the past. Some mentioned taking US-550 from Albuquerque. I’ve always wanted to try 550. Here’s a comparison.

East of Albuquerque to North of Shiprock
    I-40 W to US-491
    232 miles
    3 hr 29 min
    66.7 mph (cars)
Road: About 55% freeway. Some not-so-good roads on 491.

    I-40 W, I-25, US-550 to US-64
    208 miles
    3 hr 18 min (5+ min if Cty-7010 restricted)
63 mph (cars) (or 61.5 mph)
Road: About 9% freeway. (?) I have never taken this route.

As a frequent flyer to albq.

550 was the only way I took. Through Durango, Monticello, moab, price.

So the reason for 491 was the amount of lights on 550 , easily double . Also coming back from Farmington last time Dot was in full force . On the Rez no DoT and a very Straight shot with better Fuel Mileage. It's my preferred route , for a owner op there is also 2 places that have fuel 20. cheaper than pilot or Loves East of Albuquerque. I like this route but it's all good either way .

I run this route from Austin,tx 10 times a year. Rates were high for this lane they have now dipped really low beyond what I thought was possible.

We can probably hire Tata Motors in India to build toy trucks. cost 5000.00, 10 gallon fuel tanks and a small trailer with a payload of 4 pallets.

That way rates can be .30 a mile and you will still make money.

Ain't as bad as 666 was back in the day before they 4 laned 550 and made it the better choice.

Although I did kill Mr Ed on the pass on 550 in the wee hours one morning.
