I've been Off-Duty since 1800 on Monday. My 10 hour reset would allow me to be back on duty today at 0400 today (Tuesday). I'm trying to beat traffic getting through the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex. Could I go to Sleeper right now and begin On-Duty status prior to 0400 today?

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

If you're trying to use an 8/2 split, you'd still need to do 2 hours off duty for it to count. At that point it's no different from a straight 10.

If you had gone off duty for at least 2 hours during your last 14hr clock, then your 8hrs in the sleeper would've satisfied the split and you could start rolling now.

Keep in mind doing an 8/2 split reseys your 14hr clock and replenishes your 11hr clock MINUS whatever you drove between that split.

So it's 0210 right now. If I went to Sleeper, the 8 hours I've been Off-Duty won't count towards the 8/2 split so I could get rolling now?

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Ask me how many times I've used the 8/2 split...

If I'm reading correctly you don't have any drive time left right now. If you went to sleeper now then you still would've only satisfied one part of the split. You don't get your hours back until you complete the full split.

Now, if you do have enough hours to get past Dallas, you could roll now. Stop for 2 hours after you got through town, and get your hours back minus what you drove between your 8 hours sleeper and 2 off duty.

I’m curious why you didn’t go to sleeper at 18:00 yesterday?

Because I completely forgot I had the 8/2 split available to me.

Rideandrepair, D.Tibbitt and 062 Thank this.

How many hours of drive time and time on your 14 did you have left when you shutdown at 18:00 yesterday? That's the hours you have available to you after 8 hrs in the sleeper. If that is enough to get you through DFW then you are good to go.
Of course it's almost 08:00 now so I guess I really did't need to type this response. lol

8/2 split requires 8 hours consecutive in sleeper first. Off duty doesn't count. You'd need to edit some off duty to sleeper.
