As long as you don't mind lift-off oversteer. LOL!
I've always been a fan of awd myself. Best of both worlds if you ask me.
Have you ever wondered why your truck diesel is a straight six?

Wow, did this ever make a left turn. Steering us back to truck motors, you guys are missing the grand daddy of them all, the GMC "Thunder" 702 V12. It supposedly put out 275 hp, and did a poor job. Reports of 2-3 mpg were common. By 1965, diesels were a much better choice, and the mighty Thunder V12 , of those remaining, made their way into hotrods and boats.

GMC had a 403 V6, too. Used in the New Idea Uni System of one power unit for several self propelled machines.201 Thanks this. -

Not a truck or tractor but personally this is my all time favorite diesel engine from Audi Le Mans Prototype ( LMP1 ) race cars from the early 2000's. Proving the old adage, "horsepower sells cars, but torque wins races".

Interestingly enough these engines were always noted as being remarkably quiet in operation. So much so the drivers often said the wind noise going over their helmets at speed was louder than the engines.
