As a long time fan of this website I have found it hard to sit back at times and not comment on certain topics. I truly wish this industry could pull together at times to stand up against some of the ridiculous rules and regulations that are either already put into play or are suggested for future consideration. I keep up with everything I can because this is my livelihood, my livelihood that somebody always wants to threaten. Whether it's the unsafe 4 wheeler, pesky DOT, lyin' broker, California, or the suits high up on the hill it seems like somebody or something is always lurking. You have to be on your toes at all times, you have to be a thinker. This career can be very rewarding for those that truly apply themselves as an owner operator or a company driver (that is if they pick the right company to work for). I guess what I'm saying is we do have alot of power as a group, we're all in this together, and today when I received an email from OOIDA regarding Representative Bruce Westerman of Arkansas 4th District introducing speed limiters again I just had to say something. But now as I am writing this Westerman is vehemently denying supporting such a bill nor would he ever support any speed limiter mandate. I guess his office phones blew up with calls and now he is trying to set the record straight. Who do you believe in this case? OOIDA for bringing his name up or his denial of ever being for speed limiters? Can you even put "believe" and "politician" in the same sentence? Unless it goes like this..."I don't believe anything that comes out of a politicians mouth."
I've attached a link regarding a speed limiter mandate from Sen. Johnny Isakson from Georgia introduced on June 27, 2019, perhaps he is the one we should all be watching and voicing our opinion to.

I got to the part where it talks about deaths.

That's all the BS I needed to read.

Everything they do in the name of safety. Has all had the opposite effect of safety.

When are they going to start taking cars in to consideration. Cuz we're not the only vehicles on the highways.

right? if you are going to limit anything it should be cars. there is way more of them than there are of us and they are way more unsafe.. level the playing field and limit both if thats what it comes to .

Baby steps. We need to do something. We are sucking the planet dry of hydrocarbons and burning them up at an unprecedented rate. This will cause fuel prices to skyrocket and speed up the global heating process. Trucks in Europe are speed limited to 56 miles per hour and their fuel prices are a little over double the prices in the U.S. Europe, has a clue.

Americans want to consume everything at the fastest possible rate for the quickest possible profit today, never minding the future generations' dilemma. It is in the big billionaires' 1% agenda and interest to get the little worker bees to believe that going 10-20 miles an hour above 56 is the path to riches.

We have been speed limited for decades. Ive had several trucks that were quite fast and ungoverned in their day but did not deliver any faster.

If there is anything I would shoehorn for Dispatchers to simply just lay off the drivers with their tight appt times. Let the driver get there safetly with the load when he gets there with one important crevat.

He needs to run the limit with traffic. Arkansas is fixing to go to 75 mph in about roughly 7 months and that's going to be quite fast with many trucks already holding everything up. There are many who can run over 70 here which is good. No traffic problems from these.

I declare in front of everything that this introduced bill should be torched as a product and imagination of someone who does not know a #### thing about this industry. Typical pol gumming up the works with a greasy ink quill.

    True.

Every Sunday or Statutory Holiday, tucks are not allowed from midnight to 22:00. A few exemptions apply.
During summer holiday season, trucks are not allowed on certain Autobahns from Saturday at noon in Germany.
