I used to have a hell of a fuel pump on one of my cars, to feed the dual pump holley 650 4 barrel.

Every time I turn the key to power prior to start it starts whirring the bejezus out of the entire subdivision. People used to call my parents saying that kid of yourn running around at all hours OMG. etc.

whirwhirwhirwhir then pause before the big crank on the glass packs. Music to the ears but not to anyone else's ears. The mechanic that installed it special was a racer in a sort of gasoline class rail for 1/4 mile and he used that pump to feed his thirsty all the way down.

I sit in Baltimore down at the deli and they constantly tell stories about a Galaxy from Ford. About the late 60's era 4 speed manual, 427 cobrajet and so forth. You remember these were older men living out their youth in a halycon haze of coffee, drinks and food. And every time that car came up as a subject I realized I never seen one in person.

Maybe some day, not any time soon. It must have been a hellraiser in our streets once upon a time for them to tell stories like that.
