    Hey Guys.
I need some advice guys. I have an international prostar with cummins isx 2015. And a while ago i saw alot of oil consumption so i did a valvoline restore cummins oil change, it reduced my oil consumption but it increased it again. So i got it into the shop and because of carbon packing on pistons and liners they are gonna do an overhaul. My question is that the last forum i posted about oil consumption, people suggested me to get an overhaul and get a delete. I just wanna know when is the ideal time after an overhaul to get the delete. The truck had 350,000 miles on it.
    Any advice would help.
    Thanks

    I wouldn’t recommend a delete but that’s just me.

Can you say more about the restore oil? I had good luck with it. Just curious how much you were using and how much better it got and for how long before going bad again. Sorry about your troubles.

I’d look into Cummins Encore XT1 2nd Owner warranty. It might help protect you against this in the future.

You're comparing apples to oranges. CAT never built an engine that had to conform to 2015 on-road emission standards.

Ideal time. Before it's even test fired after the rebuild.. Check other sites. Delete talk is frowned upon here for some reason..

Do a dyno and see what the blowby is, it may be something else and with 300k on the clock it may be something else.

I would certainly wait till the engine warranty was out if you don’t do your own repairs.

Most shops won’t \cant touch it after it has been deleted. Your engine warranty is void as soon as you do.

The restore oil was used a lot by the engine when i used it for the first time like the first oil change. But after that oil change i changed my brand and it did help reduce the oil consumption. But the month after that it increased a little bit and then this last month it kind of came back to what it was using when i used the restore oil for the first time. Restore oil is a good oil, but i mean it didnt work for me exactly what i thought it might do.

Why would you use some additive laden oil on an engine that has 300k?

Did you put this on a dyno when you bought it to see the blowby was before you wrote the check?
