The sad part is someone always crying about the craggy type & blaming someone else for everything. Truth is they will never make it to craggy status. Lol

Loved otr while I done it. I made good $$$ & always had a nice house. The kids were raised not needing anything, but they knew it came from hard work.
It's nice now with local & weekends off. Gotta do what needs to be done at the time.

I love otr. I love trucking in general. I love the challenge of having to manage ur time and trip plan. Its like putting a big puzzle together. The part for me i hate is not knowing where im ever going. And im at the mercy of some dimbo behind a desk pressing buttons . saying "my computer says u should be able to make it " ... Other than that its the most ideal job for me

one major challenge i had was keeping the right time..for instance, i was nearly always on east coast time, and when i ran to CA, i'd be of course 3 hours early for every stinking a[appointment.....lol

    i couldn't ever be late, but 3 hours early...???...lol

Exactly. There are incredible drivers out there in every type of trucking and absolutely horrible ones in every type of trucking.

Were lost here- We know you came off the road 5 years ago- But what exactly do you mean "once in a while"? Are you out of trucking 100% to watch your daughter get big you say, Trucking companies don't hire "Once in a while" drivers.....Its too expensive,

Also, Your Wife,Kids and family should "understand" the sacrifices you make to provide for them..Friends too.

If your family does not understand- Well, Its the typical Keepin up with joneses' Materialistic lifestyle..Being Home at 3:45 everyday ,while the neighbor waves hello.

Why am I going to travel across 5 states to make $1500 when I can make that in 2 days less than 250 miles each day.

I'm not trying to compete with low wage mega companies

    buddyd157 and dwells40 Thank this.

I will make a run once in a while, now and then for several smaller companies. They are owned by guys I know, and it is generally more, doing them a favor when they need it.

Back years ago it was hard to find a local gig. They had low turnover rate.
