Just curious if this pay structure is still the same since this was posted in 2018? Kinda wondering why they pay $10/night to sleep in the truck as I'm assuming if you wanted to get a hotel that would be out of your own pocket?

Also I've heard their trucks don't have APUs or inverters so I'm assuming they don't care if you idle particularly if you're up north in the winter or down south in the summer?

no, they don't care if you idle at all! However, we do have bunk heaters, you can use during the winter.

I have yet to see it mentioned so I'll ask: Are there inverters in the trucks? I wouldn't mind putting my own microwave and at least a decent cooler in the truck so I'm not eating out all the time.

Not as standard equipment, but you can put your own in depending on terminal manager.

Idle all you want provided your allowed to some customers wont let you (I preferred to sleep at customers personally....) hotel on company but you give up the 10 bucks then. Not sure if that is something up to your terminal manager though. I know for us we can get one but loose the 10 dollars.

    Interesting, thanks for the info.

Honestly though I don't see how that's even a choice? Sleep in a real bed in a room w/ heat / ac, bathroom, tv and wifi ( probably ) on the company OR sleep in the truck w/ none of those thing for an extra $10 on the paycheck? Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to sleeping in the truck when necessary, but given a choice between the above my 49 yo joints and bladder have a clear preference.

It's only a few hotels that have direct bill with Superior. Sometimes you might get reimbursed for your own expense but thats up to the TM. Some terminals you need TM approval to get a hotel even if it has direct bill. Don't expect to be in a hotel every night on the road unless you are training/trainer.

I only use the company hotel if my truck is in the shop or I have to wait the weekend for a load.
