Anytime I have had an escort we DID NOT run on 19.

Id think it a bad idea personally also, but some guys do it. ive arranged to pass osow on 19 few times when my cb was still in the truck. Maybe theyve got handhelds on another channel too? Idk.

We have to run on 19 or 14 depending on which highway we are on, by law we also have to have 2 radios in the truck on oversize loads too, one for the pilots to warn the other trucks and one just for our use.

Hard to tell from the shadow, but his sleeper is caved in. I wish I would have snapped the picture when it was in the daylight more so you could really see the concave nature of the damage, but I was laughing too hard.

Looking at it all the deformation on the side of the sleeper, I'd be real surprised that the mattress even lays flat in that thing!

A while back I encounter an oversize on the opposite end of a two lane bridge under construction on rt 404 over on the eastern shore.

Good thing he was on 19. I held traffic on my side and told him to come on over.

That is the very reason we legally have to run on the channel the rest of the road runs on, so that our pilot cars can warn traffic and us too, the wider the the load is, the more front pilots are required here, so some can run as far as 5 miles out to shut trucks down where we can get around.

Just a piece of unsolicited advice. Stay off 19 with an escort, especially a high pole. What little bit of info you pick up on 19 is not worth having a stop call talked over by a radio Rambo. All it takes is one ####### dead keying the mike for you to lose all communications. Also fire that high pole.

A set of straps from the front deck to those lifting eyes up to would have probably prevented that damage. You can see them on this 15’2” tall box.
