I often feel like I am the only one doing speed limit, especially in construction zones

No kidding. I was in that 20-mile construction zone on I-85 N between Greenville SC and the NC state line, and I had big trucks riding my ###. One blew past and about a mile later got busted by a trooper. I said on the radio "yep, that's why I do 55 thru here and use the left lane as instructed"

No the eld is not pushing the peddle down and trying to beat the clock is not a excuse to speed or drive more reckless. That being said, when I was on eld I found myself speeding more often and even burnt my brakes coming down the grape vine. Not a excuse, I made that discussion thankfully no one got hurt. But to say it wasn’t at all influenced by the eld clock and not wanting to sleeping in my truck for 10hrs because I was 1 hr short of making it back to Sacramento would be a FAT lie. No the ELDs aren’t forcing drivers to speed but they sure are contributing to that decisions. Speaking from personal experience and what I’ve seen. I rarely speed now that I’m running papers and it’s usually on some remote highway following a cattle hauler. Those guys keep the hammer down and ironically are eld exempt.

    I still don't understand it.

Trucking has some of the best workplace scenarios at 65 mph kicking back enjoying your vanities and food products.

So many millions get poisoned by cubicle work places.

They've upped the speed limits a lot of places.

Speed is always the number one factor in crashes.

That's why they raised the limits.

    Safety first!!!!!

I think we all know it's money first, until you fail an inspection. Then it's safety first.

Arkansas I think officially goes to 75 mph on interstate and 65 all other roads

IF we are going to hae a problem it will be at the curve coming off a straight and a straight coming off a curve.

The date for changeover is around May 2020

Mega’s have had various forms of electronic logs for years. I think their lack of training and dispatchers strong arming the drivers has more to do with their poor driving habits than the ELD does.

Dispatchers generally find strongarming me is impossible.

Im not easily cowed into silence and compliance by a dispatcher like some millenials are. The load will get there when it gets there. Not a minute before.

I agree, I never was a 'speeder' but when Elogs came out there were times when I would drive above the limit trying to beat the clock after some shipper or receiver held me up. Some of you will say trip planning is to blame, bull, I tripp planned every load better then most, but when you sit in a dock for 6 hours your going to be in a hurry when they finally get done with you.
