Hey guys I don’t post much I need answers to some questions please! I’ve been driving for about 4 1/2 years and wonder is being an O/O really worth it. I am paid pretty good but I think I have reached the salary cap for a company driver. Are O/O netting over 100k and if so how hard is that to do? Thanks guys

Are you talking what you pay yourself as a driver plus what’s left over that the business clears and that equal 100k?

Yes because I average good wages but in trucking the only way I think I could make more is being an O/O. If I’m not clearing 120k or more then what is point?

How much are you making as a company driver? You say your doing well but how well is well?

I think it depends on where you live and what you haul. Sure, there are plenty of people making that kinda money I’m sure. But, this is a major trucking recession we are in right now and more then not are genuinely struggling if not going broke.

You have to factor the good times and bad. You might kill it for two years then struggle for two years. It’s all about bridging that gap from good to bad and back to good.

Besides, a lot of people are owner ops for many more reasons then money.

O/O because then if you don't want to work there's nobody saying you have to or lose your job, I've been not working for 3 weeks.

I make over 75k easily and I work about 65hours per week working 6 days. I don’t want to be an o/o just to say that I am. I honestly chase the money. I know o/o doing what I do but they all say stay where I am at yet they are still staying independent. I have been driving for about 4 3/4 years but i want to know where is best pay. I love my job but hate the hours because sometimes I have to run right up to my 70 and I can’t stand 6 days. I haul aggregate in Michigan
