"We've instructed agent y to not double broker without permission, he's very sorry and won't do it again."

Pretty bad... and the worst part is that less and less brokers are willing to negotiate. Main thing is DONT GIVE IN to lower rates. Stand your ground as long as you can and ask for a rate that makes sense for your business.

Problem with that is, there's less and less carriers that are trying to negotiate. It's not a matter of 'willing' to negotiate or not, it's just that on our end, if I have two guys call in on a load and driver a wants to take it for $200 more than driver b, and as near as I can tell they're doing the same jobs at the same service level, what incentive do I have to give you that extra $200, all things being equal? If I post a load and I have multiple calls waiting when you as a carrier buzz in, then I know I'm on the mark to get it moved. It's all a matter of perspective. Last year, I gave away a lot of money in negotiations. This year it's been the other direction. Markets are cyclical that way.

I cant disagree with you on that. Business is business and everyone wants the best price. Thanks for the insight!

Hmm somethings in the air today. A round came together perfect. Well other than having to go to jersey city. The icing was the reload 10mi up the road paying 600 on 180 mi to towanda pa.

As it goes, there's worse rates getting him the hell out of Jersey City.

I'm sure he's getting paid pretty well going in.
