There's more to Eruption than just tapping. I've been trying to play it for years. I can half-### hack my way up to the part in the middle where he slams out the 3 chords over Alex's drums. Just can't seem to play that quick over 3 strings while keeping it clean. The cool tapping at the end is the easiest part of the solo.

 

The solo may not be overly technical when compared to today's heavy metal but it gives me chills every time I hear it. Tom Scholz just has this amazing feel and emotion in his playing.

Love this scene. Ralph Macchio's parts were played by Ry Cooder and he acted like he was playing. Far as I know, Steve Vai played his part live.

Steve's an amazing guitarist. I find I have to be in a certain mood to listen to some of his solo work. Some of it is just a little too wild for me.
