Well it's cold out so tonight my excuse for not using the yard truck is I cant hear the radio when they call routes to be moved. Sitting right on top of a 6bt with no sound dampening is obnoxious.

That's exactly our problem. Not just new dockworkers, but new outbound supervisors, as well.

Unfortunately, the way it works at my place is that city trailers are stripped and the freight is loaded to whatever trailer it's assigned to regardless of when that trailer is supposed to leave. So a last out 4am cut trailer could fill up before the 9pm cut trailers close for our own guys to get out on time. It's frustrating, but I guess I understand why it happens. I just wish they'd dock some of that late freight toward the end and prioritize getting us out on time rather than completing all of it at the same time (which is usually late for our own guys to get our night started).

they really hit cut times hard this year. they were sloppy up until march or so. our terminal is top 3 in the company in that regard, they meet 95% of the times. i got one of the 5% on friday. oh well, can’t win em all. i only worked 45 hrs last week including the wait on friday. really good considering i came back thru another terminal 3x last week.

Gotta love relative temp in Florida. 65 degrees out and everyone breaks out a North Face.

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! The warehouse crew is moving slightly slower than a snail's pace tonight! Should have been done about an hour ago and it looks like I have at least another hour to go. This is one drawback of this job, being held hostage by a garbage warehouse crew from time to time.

It's been a weird few months and I am sure things won't change over until March or April.

I am back to LTL after a one year hiatus. Long story short I had to quit USF Reddaway after six years and reapply to USF Holland. Nothing transferred it's a clean slate move.

Major downside is I am the new fish and when Home Depot starts putting their Christmas crap up the week prior to Halloween, things tend to slow down and people tend to be laid off.

Our dock is filled with laid off linedrivers and my level of seniority makes it painfully obvious that when P&D makes their cuts, the only good thing going on my end is that I am fat enough to play Father Christmas at the mall this year.

Had a "Winter Safe Driving" meeting before our runs tonight. When I got to the yard the temp was below 30 degrees, so I moved my tractor and dolly close to the office, put on the max defrost and let the truck idle and melt all the ice off the tractor while we were in the meeting. Came back an hour later to a truck that was stifling hot inside. Glad to know my heat is ready for the task at hand in the next two months or so.
