This is typically a bad time to start LTL. Usually a slow period from now til March.
As far as needing experience, many LTLs offer a driving school. Those that do may have a 2 to 3 week "refresher" course for those with less than a year.

Just kidding we have all been there at least once. KC is a great area for LTL with several large terminals. If I were you I would apply at every LTL I could apply to. Years ago they didn’t hire rookies, but today many good jobs will hire you with very little experience. You may even try UPS parcel as they are growing big time and have lowered the bar to entry at some locations.

 

There’s about a thousand different local jobs in KC, I’m sure you could find one that’ll take you with 8 months if you’re desperate. Even more doors will open up after a year.

Check out S&H Transportation, they're the dedicated carrier for the Aldi Distribution center in Olathe. Last I heard they prefer 18 months, but it can't hurt to reach out anyways with some big grocery shopping holidays coming up.
