    Don't blame California for this.
The companies have been treating independent
Contractors just like employees, and everybody
    Knows it.

California is just the first State to pass a law about this. Other states are following this and preparing to implement the same legislation after California works all the snarls out.
Watch and wait...this is going to be a huge mess before it's over.

If it gets rid of 1099 jobs,I'm all for it.
    I'll say it again.
Sometimes you have to protect people from themselves.

If there were no minimum wage,
There would be people working for 3 bucks an hour,
    And brag about it.

You realize this affects more than just the 1099 jobs, correct? And that it’s not just lease purchase drivers, correct? If this goes nationwide it’s going to be a complete mess.

It will effect every owner operator who is leased to a company, forcing them to form a c or s corp and pay wages to the "driver" with benefits.

    bryan21384 and truckdriver31 Thank this.

That’s what I’ve been trying to say but most think it’s just a way to save someone from doing a lease purchase. I didn’t buy a truck to be an employee, even my own employee.

Itll fail. They already did an amendment to the ab 5 law. I can be wrong in the wording but it like if you do less then 15% of your miles in cali then ab 5 doesnt apply to you That's loaded miles as well With all the companies that were planning to cut ties with California drivers they saw it as a high issue Plus there was a lawsuit filled yesterday to stop ab-5 They didnt think of the scope this law would effect people outside of uber and lift I'm pretty confident the lawsuit will win
