PA restricts trucks to right lane when speed limits are lowered

Same. On some level, I'd rather call my DM and say "hey, boss! Funny story! PA's closed their borders to trucks, so I'm not gonna be able to deliver this load until spring! Think you can get me a T-call?"

Dear god, no. If I'm gonna have a bunch of absolute idiots flying past me, I'd rather they do it on my sight side... more than anything, though, I'd rather not be on ice in the first place

 

Keep in mind young man that everyone has different comfort levels and experience levels. What you think is unsafe or idiotic may not be for those of us that have been doing this a very long time. I’m not coming down on you I’m just saying....

 

I dunno, after some thought about this, I've reached the point where it doesn't matter what lane they'd restrict us to traveling, it's never gonna work anyways. Personally I could care less which side of the truck they hit, as it's all fixable.

But more than anything, it really doesn't matter to me what happens on the highways when the snow flies. When there's snow or ice coming, we normally work ahead of it, sit at home while it's bad, and go back to work as soon as practical. Being local, even if they close all the interstates, we know enough ways to get where we need to go without ever touching an interstate. And so far, they haven't messed with us. You just go with the understanding that you may be on your own for a while if you have an issue

 

Not when one truck is doing 25

 

The bans are only interstates. At least that’s what it’s been in the past.

So if your boss’s title is a “DM”, chances are he/she is just gonna say “uh, just stay off the interstates. I’ll send a new fuel solution. Carry on!”

Far as the topic....Maybe they'll change it after enough wrecks. Remember...just because your a good driver, doesn't mean everyone else out there is whether in a truck, 4 wheeler, or whatever. You can't get people to use a bloody turn signal but you all expect people to be smart when driving in snow? HA! HA HA I say.

As we all know...commonsense isn;'t so common. If you need proof of that look out at all the people driving around you.

I wish you all luck. I hate going through PA every time I do, an I'm in a 4 wheeler when I'm up there. I would have a very large bar tab, therapy bill, or bail amount if I had to drive a truck up there.

I generally reserve "idiotic" for the ######### that try and go 15+ above the flow of traffic, whatever it may be. Which includes myself, at times. I AM one of the few people who know how to drive in the snow in my neck of the woods, after all. We literally never get it in western WA aside from up in the hills, so down on the valley floor everything goes to hell in a hand basket the moment a slight chance of a light dusting graces the forecast... like I said, though. If it gets bad enough, I'm parking. I'd take getting in trouble for not moving then pointing at the 50 vehicle pileup afterwords for vindication over having another preventable on my record any day of the week, twice on Sunday. Never had a weather related crash, not even in my own vehicle... I intend to keep it that way. You guys can drive your own trucks; I'll drive mine, and park it when appropriate to do so

 

Probably a dumb question, but if or when the speed llimit lowers when it snows, does it lower for all vehicles, or just commercial trucks?
If all vehicles speed limit is the same, what is the thinking that trucks need to stay in one lane?
