Nothing like that thank god. Im just a driver who has been off the road too much. I might have to continue on with the medical repairs unfortunately. I was hoping to skate out clean without having to do all that. But I would be BS'ing myself.

I'll return shortly to sort this out.

I don't know the speak so to speak, I despise the legalease.

My total training on Green DOT book is this.

When you decide that DOT Officer is wrong you better have that green book open to the pertinent chapter and verse perpared to state your federal case with the DOT Officer in a good respectful way. Most of the time, if not always the DOT officer is more than happy to decompress a little bit and take some time with you.

Once in a while you actually win something making a case for this or that with DOT man. Not too often. And if you were actually wrong, well the quality of the DOT education which you are paying for now cannot be beat.

I think back to the older trucks and frankly they were awesome. No computers, no BS, none of that. Is it broke? yes/No proceed to the next part of the chart depending on response.

I consider myself a dinosaur on his way out. IF ANYONE here knows his stuff with DOT rules, there are quite a few. Moose who posts from time to time is one of my favorites because his wealth of knowledge is something you want to have with you in battle at the courthouse.

Most of the time I just pay the fine and forget about it. (I still document everything then hand the paperwork into the safe

There are others who do a very good job. Ridgeline, Reo, Allow Me (Whatever happened to him anyway?) Scottie and a number of others.

My one joy in these forums is to catch a newbie wide eyed and awed by the sentinent trucks filled with wonders of technology like a starship or something. Then get to tell a few stories. Sort of like the old time camp fire stories designed to scare the bejesus out of the poor bairn.

...One foggy night in Delaware we came off a bridge, spouse says is this where we are supposed to go?... The last message from dispatch came in rather cryptic. Need to load these plants before sunrise as if they are some kind of vampires or something. And chill them down to around 50....

what exactly was the violation for in regards to the flat spot? If it’s a tread depth issue, I’m almost certain they are supposed to measure that tire in three places to confirm. If cords or belts were showing, then it would be an OOS.

Oh yes. I got one for 35 dollars in Louisiana sent in the mail. I forgot to put the BOL number on my logs. At that time I had paper. Ohio sent me a citation for 98 dollars because I had an air leak and I forgot the other violation

It was for less than 2/32s tread, I’ve never heard about 3 places, just a certain square inch area maybe. It was only 1 spot, I had lost air in the air bags on the trailer, a few days earlier, while running empty, brakes locked up a couple times, must have done it in.I knew it was bad, hadn’t had a chance to swap it out.He also said I had an exaust leak somewhere, but he couldn’t find it. I explained it was blow by, Lol. Hose ran to the back of Cab. That was funny, He was a decent Trooper. First time I got an actual fine.

Nope. The exact wording is "at any spot" for measurement of steers. All other tires are a little fuzzy, but still state "when measured in a major tread groove". Note there is no mention of measuring in three places.
