If it’s not pumping a lot of oil, it’s good, slap some painf on it.Even the brand new ones pump some oil. You ought to carry a govenor as a spare, I sure was glad to have one last week near fancy gap, losing air. No parts store around. Check around, FleetPride had mine, a Tuflo 550, for less than $500,I believe.Prices vary s lot

The compressor while looking like crap, actually works fine. And no it doesn't pump a lot of oil. When I drove for 2 months with a bypass and drained the tanks at every stop, I did not notice any oil coming out of the tanks, only water.

    UPDATE:

    I fixed it!
    20191116_112730.jpg
One of the bolts that holds the governor to the bracket on the compressor was loose. That's why there was a leak at the gasket. Are you ####ing kidding me!? That was it!? Yep! I went to unscrew the bracket bolts and noticed the outside one was already loose, loose enough I could screw it by hand. Tightened it down, tested it out, and after the initial purge, the air stops pumping, the pressure gradually drops, and the air dryer stops shooting. Ok it does still shoot when it purges again, but now it's more like every 10-15 minutes, not every 30 seconds. I can live with that. I did unscrew the bolts down further just to check the gasket and it seems fine, not cracked or broken.

Nice and quiet now. I'll keep the new governor as a spare.

Thank you all who helped me out! Much appreciated

Now to figure out why the bolt cam loose on it's own. Check your front engine mounts. That's a common cause and a relatively cheap easy fix.

Yeah I was gonna say, it’s governor or purge valve. Two cheapest things to replace also

Well I'm glad all I had to do is just tighten the governor bolt. I really wasn't looking forward to also replacing my air dryer / purge valve since the air dryer is underneath my cab and my truck has full side skirts. So it's a total pain in the ### to get underneath it.

    Rideandrepair and Wheeljack Thank this.
