Generally speaking, how close must a truck be backed to a dock

    without hitting it? Who or what authority sets the standards for docking a truck with regards to precision?

    The customer?
    The carrier?
    The driver?
    Various motor vehicle laws and regulations?

    You bump it.

    that’s why it’s called bumping docks.

    I always hit the dock then bounce off then hit it again then bounce off ,rinse and repeat about 3 more times and call it a day...

    My grandfather used to say this about women automobile drivers: when they back into something they then know they can't go any further. Yes, sounds quite logical.

    LOL well lets say im not the smartest person in the world but i do know which part of the truck goes into the dock :p although nobody would be surprised if they saw a flatbedder ramming his truck into the dock trying to get unloaded lol

    Depends on the dock plate. Sometimes the trailer has to touch the dock and sometimes maybe and inch or more space.

    Everytime the forklift pulls a pallet you are supposed to pull up and bump again.
