So it looks like the tip i got about the WB side of 40 back to Tennessee thru the gorge being fully closed is infact true. Im eastbound now headed to make a drop on 64 out in the mountains at lake toxaway. im trying to figure how to get back to TN without wasting to much time or fuel.

Is 64west from cashiers to murphy, and then 74west from murphy to ducktown to cleveland a good truck road? It looks okay on all the mapping i have. Im 11'8" tall, 260WB with a 48 spread and will be empty, 15 ton-ish. Have run 64 to 107 before and am a competent mountain driver. Thanks

The cashiers to Murphy I can’t say,but Murphy to Cleveland is doable. About the only other way is 26 to 81.

If going West40, Just do NOT take us 441 to Sevierville/Knoxville from I40
Goes from Cherokee up to Pigeon Forge.

Though US 441 has no truck route, commercial traffic is not allowed through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park; recommended instead to traverse east on US 74 and then west I-40 into Tennessee.

I want to say 74 West IS the US64 west truck route.....in other words from Hendersonville West is not a truck route.... 74 from Asheville to Murphy isn’t too bad. I don’t know how it is west of Murphy

64 at highlands gorge is a no-no. Im being told it takes a police escort to make it out. Going 107 to sylva then 74w to cleveland TN.

107 isnt for mountain noobs but its doable. Pretty sure ive done 441 before and it doesnt stand out as bad. Ill have to look at a map later. Had the vband drop my downpipe a minute ago.

You’d remember 441. Use it as a motorcycle ride.

Just take tail of the dragon,
at Deals Gap with 318 curves in 11 miles: America's number one motorcycle and sports car road, Designated US 129, the road is bordered by the Great Smoky Mountains and the Cherokee National Forest with no intersecting roads or driveways to hamper your travel.
There’s only a couple switchbacks that wont let you go by..
