fuel pump

    my FP quit working, and i put in a toggle switch. Any ideas on where the electrical issue may lie?

    Your fuel pressure quit working????????

    Your guage???????????????????????????

    Toggle switch for what????????????????

    What does a toggle switch have to do with fuel pressure???????????????????


    You see where I'm going with this.........



    What does a 85 coe have to do with anything.

    there should be only one wire that turns in the engine and turn it off.

    If you are not getting voltage to that wire, then it could be an ignition switch or if so equipped low oil level sensor.

    Put it in manual. Turn the button/knob next on the Solenoid. It should keep it running. You

    The fuel pump itself stopped supplying fuel to the engine. The engine would try to start and it wouldn't.

    The toggle switch is a type of electrical switch that is identified by the presence of handle or lever that makes it possible to control the flow of electric current/signal from a power supply to a device or within a device. It is a hinged switch that can assume either of two positions ie. ON or OFF. The toggle switch is for the fuel pump to get power, since troubleshooting showed that it wasn't getting any power from the battery.

    I said nothing about fuel pressure.

    the truck is an 85COE - hence my username

    Please excuse me for not being as descriptive as possible. I will endeavor to do better for you next time.

    No idea where that is, couldn't see one; hence putting the toggle switch on it. Also, looks like you didn't finish your train of thought.

    You said FP
    I took that as fuel pressure. You said it quit working, so now I'm assuming it's a guage.
    I know what a dam toggle switch is , what I'm unclear on is how it correlates to fuel pressure.!!!

    If you were a little more clear in the beginning we wouldn't be having this discussion.

    And as far as 85 coe goes. Hell it could be a pete, KW ,Freightliner, mack , ford or Perty much anything.


    Now we got that out of the way .

    Check for power at the seliniod on the pump. You should be able to manually turn the knob to make pressure again like others have said.

    I get the whole switching it to manual schtick, my uncle told me to do the same thing.

    I'm wondering if anyone would be able to speculate on where the issue would lie with regards to the fuel pump not getting electric
