I always scanned my card into my computer than shrunk it down to a little smaller than my license. Than when I laminated it it fit right in my wallet with my cdl.

I’m surprised so many of you are carrying your cards. According to the FMCSA, it’s not required for class A interstate.
Do drivers need to carry the medical certification when driving a CMV? -
I do not carry mine. Virginia shows the expiration date when they pull my info, also I can see it on their site.

nredfor88 Thanks this.

I was told that it has to be on YOU at all times that you're operating a CMV. So if a dot officer pulls you over and you're at the back of the trailer and he says oh let me see your medical card and you say oh its in the cab, if he wants to he can give you a ticket for it. All depends on if the officer is being a richard or not.

I keep a copy in my permit book.

Your medical card should be tied to your license now. If he asks for your card, hand him your license. If you're a company driver, the company (usually) forwards the long form to the DMV of your state. Some of us have to do it ourselves. -
Short form is in my wallet with my picture license. Long form is in my plastic portable filer thing.
