MHC has tons of 16 & 17 KW T680s from heartland. These trucks all have paccar mx13 engines, 10 spd trans, apu, & new tires.
Any idea why heartland would dump so many trucks with only 250k miles? I thought the 2nd gen mx13 & emissions were getting better.

Want to make sure I'm not buying a problem truck.

Alot of people rag on paccar but I know of 2 companies that is the only engine they run .
All their mechanics are paccar certified.
One company is oilfield & they idle alot for loading & unloading.
No problems but they were tired of cummins problems.
Some companies trade in every so often doesn't matter mileage to them.

When I worked for Gordon who was purchased by Heartland, they ran their trucks to 350k then sold them. The mechanics there use to tell me that after 350k, trucks were in the shop more than they were out. I imagine the same is true with the PACCAR engines. The Tri-pac APU's also tend to have a lot of problems at that age, at least the ones I've used did.

I bought a used T680 that was a fleet truck from Tribe. It had 350k miles on it and was turned in after the 3 year lease was up. I’m thinking certain companies just lease for 3 years and re-up every time and mileage doesn’t factor into the equation

The 2017 579 I have had 244k on it when I bought it with warranty to 300k. Maybe they do the same thing, get the standard warranty on the MX13 and send it down the road with a little bit left.

Are they selling or did they just run out of lease.

I think just about every mega leases them for 3 years.

They may be moving to auto trans. What’s the price on them? Around 75k?
