I've owned both and one thing that I noticed is a little better feel for the road in the Petes. Could be components, suspension, whatever, but there's my two cents.

I had AG380 under my T600 and that truck rode smooth as silk.

Lol I ran Monroe's on mine. I dunno what it could be. I've heard other people complain about that suspension before and I dont get it. I guess every truck is just that different. Good luck with your coaching search btw. Been there and done that with my Volunteers, don't want to go there again either haha!

I think you should choose the one that has best local dealer to you. Around knoxville its completely peterbilt dominated because the pete store is just so dang good.

"Steve i need shocks for truck 6"

    "Ok"

Next day theyre on our workbench like clockwork.

I drive a 379 exhd that was wrecked and put together via a few trucks. I THINK its a 94ish cab and 01 ish 2WS cat. Not for certain on that, and dont know which frame. Its very light.. 28k by itself. Tight turning radius for 260wb. We can get about any part and yeah theyre priced proud but next day parts are worth what they cost. Its how you keep a 2 million mile truck turning out loads every single week.

Issues with petes.. The clutch comes up out of the floor. Youll get used to that, but theres 2 rods and a bellcrank with a tension spring. The short rod is very hard to get at with trans in place and no one changes it. They lengthen the other rod to take up the slop. Until it pulls out the last thread, BTDT. I just got my replacement rod today.. Wish i noticed this a week ago when trans was out. I have 2 full inches of pedal sag right now with bull gear dialed in dead nuts on new clutch and its not giving me clutch brake due to shortened travel.

My windshield leaks and fuse panel is all corroded. Many gremlins there, mostly rusted relay magnets and rusty arced up sockets, pull relay and youll see scorch marks. If the relay is cooking hot while in use it has issues. I keep the kick panel off so the electrical center can dry and if needed i can get fire extinguisher at it. Much gauge issues as well. When i step on throttle one of the rearend temp gauges pegs. I dont care much about that one. Speedo/odo off by a mile.

Passenger door was horrible. Rattled bad, see light over top front arch, sometimes pop open.. Hard to close. The hinge was worn causing some sag but it was also hung poorly. You can loosen the inverted torx head bolts, snapping a few probably, and retilt the door hinge so it closes square. The striker location floats by loosening the torx and two big phillips heads and moving North south east or west. I just changed that around and got it closing smooth then discovered my latch was shot. New latch, perfect hinge and striker align, bam.. Perfect tight shutting door. The light at the top corner turns out to be a shrunken gasket at the bend. Havent changed it yet.

I agree about the far away dash but would not give up my leg room. Flipping the jake is the only sittups i ever do. But you better velcro a radio remote to your steering wheel, thats way too far. I have a console between the seats that makes it a slight pain to get back there. Itll catch your flip flop every time :p

Cant speak for w900s. I have a 74 w900A to restore someday with my son but theyre not comparable. I sat in a studio sleeper 900L once and was jealous of the couch bed. 379s are kinda basic sleepers compared to the apartments youll find on a volvo. I do kinda like the 379 closets for piling a column of junk then snapping the curtain shut to retain it.

Im glad i dont own a truck, no matter what make! Theyll all bleed you dry.

stwik, Dino soar and Oxbow Thank this.
