Just finished up my first week!
Late Sunday night I took a load from Bear River City UT to Albany OR for delivery Tuesday morning. Deadheaded that morning to Vancouver WA to pickup, delivered to Boise ID Wednesday morning. That same morning I picked up literally around the corner in Boise to deliver to Auburn WA for Friday. I would be able to deliver the day before, so called my BOA and they allowed me to deliver a day early, and brought the load to WA Thursday morning. After that deadheaded to Issaquah and picked up a load going to Sparks NV for delivery today, Saturday morning. Got to Sparks on time but the customer was closed, contrary to the load info on workflow that said customer was open Saturdays. Called my BOA (or the person covering for her) and she had me relay the trailer to our drop yard in Sparks, and I get paid as if I delivered it to the customer, as the operating hour discrepancy wasn't my fault.
With only 8hrs on my 70 left, I'm currently taking my 34hr reset, preparing to check out loads leaving Reno this coming Monday. Considering I'm getting readjusted to life on the road, being my own dispatcher and on top of that, actually having to manage my clocks again, this wasn't a bad first week. I definitely want and need to make more revenue, but I'm learning the process, cruising no higher than 60mph to save fuel, and I'm having fun!
Now to get some laundry done and have a good meal at the Iron Skillet!
Going back to OTR with Schneider Lease Purchase!

Once again, 8 hours on your 70 means a $3 mile load for 150 miles and then roll your 70.
Gotta think of it as a business.
Company driver days are over.
You have to run as long as you can.

I can't recommend $60 to $80 loads......my minimum is around $250.
Even with a drop and hook, there's too much time and aggravation to fool with stuff that cheap.
Every market is different. But for the sake of hours, I try to run 1 short load a week to keep my hours straight.
You can get multi stop TS loads that pay hella good, and you only drive about 200 for the day. The rest of your time is spent watching people unload your trailer.
Just some nuggets to consider
Good luckyordansanchez1989, dwells40, Cat sdp and 1 other person Thank this. -
