2020 volvo hood wont open

Yeah my chevys always stuck. Put some penetrating oil on it , probably has a #### ton of dirt and grime in it and got jammed up.

 

I’m not sure on the new Volvos but the 2013 Volvo I drove had releases you could reach in under the fender and pop yourself If the hood release didn’t work.

 

You can reach it if you know what to look for. The cable release is easily reached when you pull back the overspray fender above the steer tire.

 

Yep, study how it looks under there with the hood open and you'll see how you can easily get in to it from under the fender if you need to. Keep white lithium grease on everything under there and you're cables and springs will last a lot longer.

 

I've found that anti seize on the release arm of the latch will make it release smooth like butter...

 

The 2020 latch is totally different than the 2013 latch. You can't pop it by hand under the splash shield. All 13 of our 2019's had the problem. The dealer started replacing cables under warranty. From what I can see, the factory ran the cables with some very sharp bends near the latch causing the cables to bind. The dealer does not zip tie the cables in the same place as the factory did and we haven't had any problems since.

 

Just broke another release handle today ... I'll look into this

 

Can someone say whats happen with this bull#### cable release hood, brand new vnl 2020 have a problem after first service visiting, after few monts the problem grow and not posible to open the hood before suporting one man from inside the cab open the hand release and another one from the outside to pushe alitle bit the hood, after two year totaly not posible to open, when i unmount to see whats hapen, the armor of the cable for the right side latch cable is totaly brocken and damaged, i replace the right cable and the right latch, the same way like as a factory, but the wire inside the cable still move hard. I THING THE RESON IS THE WERY SHARP TURNS FOR THE RIGHT CABLE MAKE THE HARD WIRE MOVING AND MAKE DAMAGE TO THE WIRE ARMOR. WHAT IS THIS STUPID THINGS TO OPEN THE HOOD. WHAT IS THE TYPE TO RESOLVING THIS PROBLEM. THE MOST IMPORTAND IS THAT IF YOU WHANT TO REPALCE THE RIGHT CABLE SHOULD AND MUST TO UNMOUND EVERY PLASTIC INSIDE THE CAB DRIVER SIDE AND UNMONT THE AIRFLOW FILTER CORPUS AND AND AIIRFLOW FILTERCORPUS BACK SUPORT...THERE IS THE ZIPTIE...WTF....
