Yeah see I think in most cases you probably get what you pay for. If I had a dispatch service that books loads, sets up accounts, dispatched and commincates load tracking to the broker, does billing, and factors the invoices I’d have to have 13% to be feasible. However, the revenue would be much higher then somebody sitting there and literally just taking what the broker offers and putting no effort into it. That 13% would be a bargain at that point.

They probably just look up your location call the broker and say booked. Anybody can do that. I have two guys booking for 9 trucks and even at that it’s hectic sometimes but they pound the phones and hustle hard to always get top dollar. They broker some loads too but less then 10 a week. In these bad times you need a lot more office resources because about 10 times more calls have to be made.

Edit: not to mention when loads get cancelled or there are problems, especially when it happens at the same time. Who would get priority or would you be stuck waiting for “dispatch” to do something?

Anybody can drive a truck, some are good at some suck.
10 times more calls? I never said it would be easy but for all the more invested it could be profitable.
As far as canceled or problem loads. What can they do? It's on the broker to sort out, it's their contracts.

Those are some of the fears I have about dispatch services and leasing onto carriers. You just have to trust that they are actually giving you the agreed percentage of the load. You were able to find out because you know how to dispatch yourself. Then I get these calls of dispatch services all the time, and I’ve noticed it’s coming from dishonest companies who are also selling other services like ELD devices and making bs claims. I had this guy claiming that their ELD company was the best of the best, even better than Omnitracs and had been operating longer than it. I was like, really?

Were they not sending you the actual ratecon?? When we dispatch, we handle all of the carrier/broker agreements and ratecons, but also send the ratecon to the carrier so they know what they are getting and what terms were agreed upon.

I didn't get to the point of receiving a ratecon from them. I gave them a week to find just a single load in my lane and they couldn't. It quickly became obvious that they wanted a couple hundred bucks per week to find loads on the same load boards I was using. It was a rip off.
