Prostar with Maxxforce 13 hard to start

Hello HEAVYD!
As of 12/20/2017 to 12/23/2017 it was pretty darn cold 7°F in Moline. IL/ Davenport. IA area!
So truck sat outside for 3 days, today I went to start it to prevent no start conditions.
I totally forgot to wait for igniter light to flash, and I tried to start the truck, first time it kinda started but died right after I let go the key, second time it took solid 20 seconds to start!
Yes it did start but engine light came on right away!!! Did i @#$% up the truck? Or the engine?
Truck warmed up, test drive it, everything look/sound as it should butg engine light is remaining on!
Turned the truck off and on couple times, not a single issue, starting right up but darn engine light is still on!
What should I do Now?

 

I wouldn't worry about it, I triggered a light on one right before Christmas because of the same thing, and had one this morning set a code for EGR temp erratic. It's just too cold. The light will go out on it's own after a couple or few runs as long as it doesn't detect the problem again.

 

I sold the truck and no more maxxforce I said to myself...

 

HeavyD....Hi im new to the forum i have a 2009 Maxforce international i bought from the auction before the truck eould not start i replaced the oil rail pucks then i replaced the Ipr still wouldn't start til a few days later ...now when it does start it will idle fine for maybe 20 to 30 seconds then shut down put it will crank back up but still only will idle fir that short period of time .....please help....

Heavy D, im having the same issues as being discussed in the thread. Ive got a 2012 prostar with the maxxforce 13 in it, been have the issue of cranking but not starting, batteries and starter have both been recently replaced. only way to get it running is to use a starting aid and the longer it sits the harder it is to get started. any ideas on where to start ive changed out both fuel filters

 

Depends what fuel system you have but there are inlet check valves built into the fuel water separators that might be starting the leak and allow fuel drain back. Davco the fitting can be changed, but the other one is in the filter head I believe. The other thing is the fuel pump itself is starting to get weak and cannot draw fuel any more on its own.

 

HeavyD I just started another thread for the truck I am working on. I would really appreciate your input. You seem to be the most adept with these International trucks. I'd greatly appreciate your assistance.
