I have a ein from when I filed 4 years ago. Since then I have bought a new truck, and left HQ office and went to an agents/booker who paid them.

This year I changed back to HQ and have to file myself. Do i use the old ein, even though it's a different truck?
Also Yes I am well aware I'm filing late and will have to pay a fine.

I don’t understand your question. EIN- employer Identification Number, issued by IRS, basically a SS# for a Corporation. HQ, what’s that?

    Let me ask another way.
Last time I paid my 2290 myself was years ago, with a different truck.
I now have a new truck and have to pay my 2290. Do I use the ein the IRS gave me years ago. Or do I have to get a new one?

Sorry if I confused you with i left (hq) Head Quarters office, and went to an agent affiliate office.

Your ein should still be good.

When you filed for your EIN it was tied to your Social Security number. At least if you filed as a sole proprietorship. I don't think it will change now.

EIN not tied to your SSN. You can have many EIN's if you have many businesses.
Don't forget to remove old truck VIN from the list otherwise IRS will still charge you.

The EIN is tied to whatever business name you registered it under. New business name? get a new EIN. IRS will not link multiple names to one number. I've had more than my share of issues with this. That's not to mention using an old ein for a bank account with a new name. Doesn't work.

I have a sole proprietorship EIN but if I go llc it is better to get a EIN number for the llc it is easierotherwise to transfer a sole provider in number to a LLC you must follow a bunch of paperwork.
