So with all the negatives about Swift that you hear on here and other places, I thought I'd post a Swift success story.
I went to Solo status at the end of January and I went over the road out of Swift's Jonestown Terminal. I was given a Volvo VNL670 and told to get on with it. I spent most of my time rolling around the greater Nashville Metropolitan Area and the mid-south. Got home about every 3-4 weeks to see the wifey and was generally happy except for the pay. Right when I started, Swift cut it's pay for $.01 per mile (So I was at $.25 per mile instead of $.26) so I was seeing $200-$300 paychecks, which was not making the wife happy.
About 3 months later, I was offered a dedicated route with a major Wholesale Warehouse (Rhymes with "Bostco") and I accepted and am very happy still on that account. I've moved up to $.37 cpm and the last several weeks, I've run 2,000 to 2,200 the past several weeks and am doing well with Swift. A lot of folks break Swift's chops over screwing their drivers, but I have not had any trouble. I can honestly say that I've only once had a payroll problem but it was resolved right away so I wasn't too worried.
All in all, I'll say that Swift has it's issues. Among them my new truck (A VNL780) has a transmission problem that the shop won't/can't fix, and don't even THINK about calling my Driver Manager before she's had her coffee or after lunch on Friday. Beyond that, Swift has exceeded my expectations (which were admittedly low).
Just thought you'd like to know that not everyone has a bad expierience with the Swifty.

Its nice to see the other side of the post demeanor. I am no spring chicken (age 47) and coming out of retirement to jump in a truck with Swift for awhile. I have always maintained a positive attitude when I approach any job and it tends to be what you make of it. I have been reading many posts on the board and I know I have to pay my dues before thing will improve financially. Oddly enough, I don't need to work; but I have hunted and fished for the past 6 years and burned out on fun.(yes to much of a good thing!) I need to get back into the work force.
My start is Aug 4th (Syracuse) and will venture into the 6 week insanity with the rest of the Swifties.

As of right now...I'm home about 1 time every 3 or 4 weeks and am averaging $600 a week (thats after everthing comes out...including $100 a week for me to eat on)
There is money in staying out longer...when the miles are there. We each have a different idea of whats right for us...I prefer miles over home myself...I'll be home when I retire. -
