Apparently there’s thick fog out there and it led to a 20+ vehicle pile up.

Tsk. They should know better.

Can't say I'm surprised that there's fog down there. It's usually nice weather until you get west of Finzel. I spent a whole winter running across that road every night two years ago. It's either snowing or foggy this time of year. There's very few clear nights

That doesn't look that foggy to me.
Looks like the AutoZone truck has some splainin to do.
I could pin much of this on DPS because they let these loons take to the highway in these conditions. I'll bet over half didn't even have their lights on.
And I just counted 10 in the video. Of those ten you can bet 8 were travelling with a death grip on the wheel.Bud A., sealevel, Flat Earth Trucker and 2 others Thank this. -
Doesn’t look that bad to me. I’ve seen freeze fog on old Kansas highways worse than this and them old highways sometimes don’t even have shoulders and a very deep ditch almost never see a truck down there. Think it’s more of driver distracted and used the fog as a scapegoat.

I have hit fog out there a few times. I managed to find the turn off to the I-70 overpass for the eastbound ramp one morning in extreme fog. I think a highway flare marked the turn for the trailer wheels. Burned out in 5 minutes. Once the descent to the interstate below the inversion it got much better.
However a blanket fog I don't think has happened too often in my lifetime. Its relatively rare. Living in Maryland to commute to work a set of amber fog lights took care of most mornings.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
