i LOVE my cars, for the fuel mileage and comfort. i LOVE my pick up trucks (when i had them) for the work i can get done, but the gas mileage stinks
i had to rent out a car cuz mine was in the shop, but the car i reserved, was not returned in time, so they "upgraded" me to a Nissan SUV, Rouge..??
that darned thing sucked up more gas that my old truck ever did..!!!!!!
they are LOUSY on gas..!!!!!!WildTiger1990, mjd4277 and bzinger Thank this. -

Owned one car in my life. Unless its something cool like an old Chevelle or a Nova I'll probably never buy another car.

I used to work at a dealer to get through trucking school briefly.
Just long enough to know certain cars are seriously crap.
Most of the Buick Centuries still running are dying through a plastic actuator in the transmission that applies or takes away fluid depending on what the driver wants. Eventually its a 1800 dollar repair to replace it Or the whole reman transmission OEM for 2000. Your choice. Better to sell at 1500 and use the money for something else.
Im not too concerned about the gas. Our freeways are crumbling concrete plates from the 1962 era original construction as long you have a truck that can take the hammering alls well. Its also incredibly easy fix. Ive got a complete front end head light on order which includes the new LED but plain factory to kill the current draw that I find excessive with the original pair, when they arrive they just bolt in under the shade tree.buddyd157 Thanks this. -
I guess a bunch of senior citizens are going to be upset, and I guess they will have to get used to Buick SUVs
-
uhhh....I AM senior citizen...and i ain't upset.
i just think that the manufacturers are cutting thier noses off, to spite thier faces.
Ford, as only one example, will only have the mustang, then all SUV's, pick ups.
frankly, i do not see everyone running to buy Mustangs any time too soon, just for a car.
the japanese makers still have sedans and will continue to, well into the future.
here is what "i see happening" at the dealerships that have no new cars to offer.
customers will go to say Toyota, or Honda, or Kia, or Hyndai, for a sedan.
then, if someone like the spouse/significant other, wants an SUV, they will buy that, where they bought thier car, as it'll be convenient to go to ONE dealership for both vehicles, rather than 2 separate ones.
i think too that the SUV sales will bottom out and one of 2 things will happen.
1) that manufacturer, will go under
2) that manufacturer will bring back sedans, maybe AWD instead of say front wheel drive only. but it'll be a hard sell, to get the faithful sedan buyers of that maker, to come back.stillwurkin, Bean Jr., x1Heavy and 4 others Thank this. -
