I dig this. If 35 mph is all that can be mustered, that means terrible conditions. Consider the load late.

He should have stayed home. He's chained up and still can't move.

Because he's one of those idiots that waited until he spun out THEN put his chains on. Once you stop you're pretty much ####ed at that point.

Chains don’t keep someone else from running into you. My little brother is magnetic now because of that kinda thing.

Yeah I agree with a lot of posters. I have chains just to have them but if I’m in a situation where i need to put them on I just shut down. Hats off to truckers who chain up and drive through icy/slushy canyons of Utah and Colorado. I’d rather just shut down

I use chains to get me home. If tripcheck says that Oregon is changing up by Meacham in the morning. I’ll either switch to a SLC load or just work the store. Not worth sleeping on the wrong side of the hill in a hotel.

I did my last chain-up a couple weeks ago through snoqualmie. And decided it was the very last time I was doing it again unless it was an emergency. The chains that were provided on the truck were so ill-fitting I could barely fit them on the drives, and one I had to leave off, despite the tire sizes on the truck matched what was on the bag. Told dispatch it would be a bit of a delay because of that problem. I hate the ###### things. Nothing but Chinese made garbage that break easily, not sized correctly for what’s state on the bags, and too many idiots out here now that think the chains are an excuse to fly through these passes at top speed and wind up causing a major cluster when they wreck.
