So once again I’m about to retire from the army and my wife who works for AAFES as a retail manager informed me that they have their own trucks and regional distribution centers. One being a hour from the house. So I see the potential for a lot of home time especially if I’m delivering to Fort Hood which is where I’m stationed now. Any feed back from a driver standpoint would be very appreciated.

    AAFES requires 2 years experience.

I just pulled this off of AAFES job application site.

Yea i seen something like that in the wording, however it says 2 years experience driving tractor trailer vehicles over 80,000 LBS. I would assume my military driving experience counts even though its all tactical tractor trailers. So i applied. The posting says they pay hourly so that could be a good thing. unless they stick people on a short designated route like fort hood to waco.

You think that they should count military driving but a lot don't.

You can also look at Quickway. I don't know if they count military experience. It says two years, but my son works for them out of Ft Worth. He started there after 1 yr experience otr, but had military experience. They pay by the hour or percentage pay. You get which ever one is higher for the day. He's made over 80k this is.

Yea its possible they wont count it, i will be truly dumbfounded if they dont it is a military owned company and they make alot of concessions for people coming over from the military.

For what they pay per hour I would be looking for a LTL company or someone that paid $23 or better p/hr!

Well that worked almost too good, I dropped a application thinking they would maybe call me in a month and I would get it set up to do a interview and wait for background checks and all that. Hoping I could line it up to start when I sign out in leave. Well they called me and offered me a position with out a interview today and I had to decline because I’m still in the #### army.
