You say Keeptruckin for your IFTA. Do you have your stickers and cab card?
Do you at least have documentation of attempting to contact your former employers to verify your employment? The Biggest Dawg Thanks this. -
a) Except as provided in subpart G, a person shall not drive a commercial motor vehicle unless he/she has first successfully completed a road test and has been issued a certificate of driver's road test in accordance with this section.
(b) The road test shall be given by the motor carrier or a person designated by it. However, a driver who is a motor carrier must be given the test by a person other than himself/herself.blacklabel, PE_T and The Biggest Dawg Thank this. -
As far as ifta filing goes I know how to do all the math but where do I submit the numbers? And Thats every three months right?
I dont see that section you posted, but it looks like I dont have to give myself a road test anymore.
Question 1: Are employers still required to administer road tests since all States have implemented CDL skills testing?
Guidance: The employer may accept a CDL in lieu of a road test if the driver is required to successfully complete a road test to obtain a CDL in the State of issuance. However, if the employer intends to assign to the driver a vehicle necessitating the doubles/triples or tank vehicle endorsement, the employer must administer the road test under §391.31 in a representative vehicle.blacklabel, PE_T and olddog_newtricks Thank this. -

It sounds like you hit most of the big stuff.
But you have to have your files set up properly for when they do your audit.
I don't have the web address but ooida has training videos that show you how to set up your files.
You also should have a driver qualification file. You should have one that's already printed up that has everything that you need inside of there because there's a lot of paperwork in there that when they do your audit they will be looking for. I have seen them on the web where they cost around $30 I think?
You could check the price if you become a member of ooida.
You may want to have a good Trucking software to help you keep track of things. With the audit, they want to see that you have things in order.
Also don't forget your state permits, liquor permits if you haul that, your medical card attached to your license, State business license and registration, if you pick up and deliver within Pennsylvania you need Pennsylvania puc Authority and if you pick up and deliver in the state of New Jersey you have to get set up as a foreign corporation.
Or you will pay dearly. The Biggest Dawg Thanks this. -
Once they tell you everything is in order they will be waiting on your insurance and the drug Consortium.
I don't remember the exact amount of time after you submit your insurance but I think it was somewhere between 5 to 10 days for your mc number to actually become active. -

I think the whole thing from start to finish is about 5 weeks. The Biggest Dawg Thanks this.
