I'm just aiming for a location that hasn't been hit by the gentrification bug yet. I apply to Albuquerque ODFL, get a face to face interview, and then get passed up due to in-company transfers. Of course it's a fairly inexpensive city with lots to do and awesome scenery.

Meanwhile, I inquire about the ODFL positions in say, Denver or some other large and trendy city, and they're quick to want to get me on. Of course any city with high rents and large influx of tech workers to butt heads with will always be a red flag. With them come the high rents and the eyesores of living arrangements they demand. Every other normal person in those locations just suffer.

Effing Aye that's an encouraging post! I gotta do something like that.

Can you tell us anything about possible complications such as, which state your CDL is in?
    Thanks

My CDL was in Oklahoma when I switched. I had a hazmat endorsement but let it go because you have to retest when you change residency to S.D. and I’d forgotten all the nonsense (how many inches wide is the placard, etc). I’ve since moved to another no income tax state and picked up my hazmat again.

If you’re OTR, like I was, there’s nothing shady about it. I was driving 345 days/year. That week of vacation was the longest I stayed in one place all year.

Residency doesn’t mean you can vote. You’ve got to have a physical address to do that.

How about car hauling with companies like Hansen&Adkins,USAL,And such? Is there money in that?

Car hauling tends to be lucrative with a little experience and a company that runs new equipment. Tough niche to learn though from what I have been told from guys I have talked to that actually do it. Tends to scare most off with the high liability and steep learning curve. They earn their money.

    Dadetrucking305 and FlaSwampRat Thank this.
