Years ago I was cruising (tee hee get it) along on rt 80 in a pickup, the roads were just a little wet. After climbing a hill, I'm certain the cruise had the pedal on the floor of that anemic pig. The shade of an overpass was enough to turn the damp road into black ice, the truck turned sideways and my razor sharp reflexes brought it back into shape (ok maybe pure luck) , after my heart returned to normal I vowed to NEVER use the cruise on anything but dry roads. I beat that lesson into my kids head too!!

The road doesn’t have to be perfectly dry to use the cruise or engine brake.

Had both on earlier , coming out of Gallup to Mesa with 6% grades . I do have adaptive Cruise so it makes things easy plus it's a light load . I was in 9th off the pedal with Jake holding between 55 and 60 , beautiful scenery in these parts .

I use mine in the snow and rain when the conditions are right, but you have to know your rig to do so safely. There is not a one size fits all answer. What is good for a someone who has been driving for 30 something years may not work for someone brand new.

True. If it happened to me, I would just shut down.

I mean I don’t think I’d shut ‘er down because of that lol.

I’d just go somewhere who doesn’t spec their truck like I’m a toddler.
