Since you’re already taking 58 you could turn off at LaPine and go out through Christmas Valley to 395 and back up to 20. It’s good running, less ups and downs than 20 because you’re going out through farm country.

 

I've driven this scenic route in my own vehicle. It's a beautiful drive. It's cool how the trees change from mountain pines to rainforest firs heading west.

 

And no cell service until you reach Caldwell, Idaho.

 

Theres been service out there for years, at least with Verizon.

Isnt McKenzie pass and 242 same road? The goat trail that goes south from Sisters?
