I'm going to get started on Old Dominion soon.

Here's what's been cooking, the work I have been doing lately has been on the way way way back pages and of extremely, extremely limited interest. It's focused around municipal trucks you know your local city trucks that are owned and operated by the township, garbage trucks, snow plows and leaf collection trucks, street sweepers, vac trucks all that kind of stuff, which is not real popular or of interest to most people on here.

However there is a niche market for those kinds of things, and I've been writing a thread about DSNY which is the New York City Department of Sanitation which is the largest municipal garbage hauling and trucking operation in the country for sure and probably top 5 in the world. Robin Nagle in 2013 wrote a book about the DSNY and it's been cool because we've been able to compare and contrast DSNY to other operations like Chicago, LA, Cleveland, and even some small town no name cities lol!

Most people on here aren't interested municipal and infrastructure work I get it, because it doesn't pay very well and people generally don't go to truck school so they can work for the City Services Garage of Lyndhurst, Ohio.

But I live in Cleveland, Ohio and Ohio's a big state up north and there are many factories and warehouse operations here in Ohio and it's a big state for trucking I mean even in the TNT thread there's pages on here it goes on for pages about the automobile industry and all the trucking that goes a long with it and it's always the same cities Detroit, Windsor-Canada, Cleveland, Ohio, Buffalo, New York and Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The thing about Ohio is we get all the seasons, Heat, Leaf, Snow and Rain. So ODOT (Ohio Department of Transporation.) we talk a lot about them because there the one's that maintain the major interstate highways. Them and the contractors they use, Kokosing being the biggest, Kenmore Construction out of Akron, Ohio, Burton Scott Construction of Cleveland, Ohio and Rulin Construction of Sharon Center, Ohio and Shelly Construction and there subsidiary companies @G13Tomcat did I hit all the major construction companies lol!

But in order to keep trucking like we do the roads have to be clean and in good shape for passage and ODOT comes into play, because they plow the snow and clean the highway of debris and they do some black top work and other maintenance too, yes they hire many contractors for real big jobs no doubt about it a lot of the work is done by major contractors sure, but they do some stuff to, they plow the snow and ice which doesn't sound like a big deal until there's , snow and ice and then it's a real big deal lol.

Or when a scrap metal truck in August this year dumped an entire load of scrap metal on I-77 during rush hour headed into down town Cleveland ODOT was the group who came in with there street sweeper and power brooms and cleaned that bad stretch of I-77 up and they do other things most people don't really think about, but they drain culverts and stuff so the roads don't flood over and they make sure all the drainage ways and storm drains on the highway are clear, so I thought it would be fun to talk about stuff like that so we know what it takes to keep the modern highway up. So I've been talking a lot about that stuff, I know none of that is as fun as moving freight and certainly the City of Rocky River, Ohio's garbage hauling operation doesn't have the history and certainly isn't as fun to read about as Old Dominion or TNT Company, but it's still trucking and worth sharing I thought.

The other issue is I have a leaf and debris removal business and here where I live in Ohio leaf season is a big deal we have a ton of mature trees and we get hammered with leaves, so I’ve been busy cleaning off yards.
