I myself enjoy history. Lot went on in this old world that we don’t even realize at times.

There are some coal mines from the turn of century on my uncles farm where the old house is I shared pics of. The mines were dynamited shut many years ago.
2 of the mines I’ve been inside of. 1 in particular just opened up into like a stone igloo inside, and the coal seem was evident at the bottom, obviously caved and filled in over time.

The other mine had washed open at the top and looks like a big whistle pig hole. Nice and cozy in there when snow is on the ground. The ceiling has caved in about 1/2 way back, and a little eerie crawling over it but I have.... a few times in years past. Walking in water to the very back of the mine and touching the face where the last miners picked away at the coal is kinda odd, and saddening in a way. And talk about dark!!!! They say the owner went broke because the miners got to setting in the mine playing poker in later years instead of digging coal, we see a lot of that today too lol.

The rail road trestle at the end of Goose Creek on route 60 close to I-64 exit 20 is made of hand hewed stone. That stone came from the same farm. The high wall where the stone came from is only about 60 to 80 feet in some places, but would be bad if you fell over. At times I’ve just walked those hills squirrel hunting in years past, and thought about all that’s went on hidden from public view. One of the old mines which was the last to be blown shut, still seeps orange water to this day. Dad said they left every thing inside and just walked away when he was a boy. Sorry for the rambling.....

Anyone been down 1-65 through Nashville lately? Wondering what the roads are like ( construction).....?

I get back home guess I’ll snag the low drag and be Alabama bound, not sure if I’ll split Nashville or Knoxville.....
