Indiana-based trucker files for bankruptcy, thousands of jobs at risk

 

I work in operations for a smaller trucking company. We own about 60 tractors. 10 of those were leased on to Celadon. We got wind of the imminent demise Wednesday afternoon of last week. On Thursday, all of our drivers were instructed to drop all Celadon trailers (loaded or not) on the nearest Celadon yard, fill up the tanks, and bobtail down to TN ASAP.
All of those drivers are in orientation this morning for the other carrier that our trucks are leased on to. Since our company was an independent contractor that was leased on to Celadon, we are considered to be an unsecured creditor in the eyes of the bankruptcy courts. We have 6 figures worth of outstanding settlements that we will likely never see, but we will be ok I the long run thanks to our owner having the foresite to diversify our fleet. I blame it on their governed trucks. If the could have gone faster this would have happened months ago.

 

They are working on that now. I was not part of the wind down crew. But they are doing just that.

Not even top three, I'd say. I'd say lower half of the top 10. But it's your lie, tell it however you want.

 

I wonder how many office people stole a pen and stapler, box of paper clips, on their way out the door.

 

I'd grab some TPS reports.

 

Don't forget the stapler...but it's gotta be the RED one....
