You have a point; yes, yard moves still count against your 14 since you are on duty at that time.
For the shipper and receivers, it is legal to use personal conveyance to get to safe haven should you get kicked out. However, use of personal conveyance varies from company to company. For example, Rohel didn't allow any PC whatsoever. Swift allows PC for up to 2 hours a day I believe. Jrayl allows it if your told to move, but does not allow it for any other reason, ext.

I think you've found the cheating everyone has been doing. Moving to a dock? That's on-duty at least.

Yep, let's make it to where just releasing your brakes kicks you into drive line. And opening your door kicks you into on duty. :D

You guys really need to stop complaining, you have it good. I have the next big brother super ELD, it has a sensor on the seat so any time I sit on it it kicks me on duty, since Im technically in the driving position. The other day I crapped myself trying to crawl around the seat to get to the bathroom in time. Sometimes even if I fart too hard it kicks me on. I wish I didnt have to clarify that this is a joke....for now.

It wouldn't surprise me if that became a standard sometime in the future. The releasing the brakes deal is already a technical possibility today. After all, the truck knows when the brakes are released, or the parking brake light wouldn't exist.
Or worse, if starting the engine kicked the driver into drive line.. Good luck with idling to stay warm if that ever became law.

Every elog Ive used already knows when the truck is on so thats no issue. Also what us that new thing that Im hearing trucks panic honking or something, is that when you open the door without the brakes pulled?
