So I hope before the new year to be starting up the thread on Old Dominion. The leaf season is coming to an end as I've called it a season I have one more job to finish up on Friday and I think I'm about good.
I have to finish up my thread on DSNY, which is almost done, I'm getting towards the end of that book.

We might do a small thread with in a thread probably right here actually on Central Transport of all companies, because they for a long time had so many different shell companies and stuff with all of there auto parts hauling they kind of fit in with TNT granted Central was after TNT, but you all get the gist. I'm not so much interested in Central Transports LTL operation nobody even knows who there customers are I heard rumor is most of there LTL freight is just garbage and retail returns no legitimate shipper uses them, but there auto parts hauling and just in time logistics were a big deal though and they were very heavy in that business still are really. Now they fly under the flag Universal, but it wasn't always like that there was a time when they were many different companies.

About Central Transport, the carrier was always in the background of the small automotive dedicated carriers (Pro Logistics, On Demand Transport, Linc Ontario, etc.). Those specialized carriers was asset light operating in most part recycled Central Transport tractors and trailers leased from LGSI/GLS Leaseco using agency drivers for whom Central Transport provided safety services including drivers verification, logbook auditing and drug and alcohol testing. Those carriers used also Central Transport facilities for parking and maintenance services.

In fact, those carriers was the dedicated transport arm of Linc (Logistics Insight Corporation)
the supply chain division of Centra which managed the freight flow of the contracts with the assistance of Central Transport for the day to day asset side of the business. Under Universal flag, apart the consolidation of the automotive dedicated carriers under the Universal Dedicated division umbrella the relation is the same between Linc, Universal Dedicated and Central Transport.

Concerning the LTL operations of Central Transport, the company should have a solid customer portofilio having bought Vitran Extress few years ago and operating today over 200 terminals throughout United-States and southern Ontario.I know Central is Ford non production single source LTL carrier and a core carrier for GM Spare Part Operation. The carrier serves also Amazon.

Yes TNT Ipec operated a totally integrated Air/Road trans-european parcel network from an Air hub located in Cologne (Germany) and a Road hub located in Arnheim (Holland). The Air network was rather unorthodox reflecting the habitual `` we will do it `` mindset of the TNT upper management.

As an Australian company TNT was prohibited from owning or operating its own freight Airlines in Europe. So TNT upper management in Sydney decided to bypass the regulation by designing a hybrid company model which used TNT Ipec as an air freight forwarder with no assets. A new (1987) established division named TNT International Aviation Services located in Windsor (U.K.) acted as an aircraft leaser and fleet manager sub-leasing aircraft in TNT colors to a group of small contract airlines registered in six different European countries.

TIAS was the central point to insure a total integration of all the parties involved in the network operation to be sure that the customer perceived the TNT Ipec Air Express network as a totally integrated operation..

I though it would be a good initiative to add the TNT North America organizational chart to this 34 pages thread dedicated in most part to TNT. It can help to situate the different TNT North America components and show how huge and complicated was TNT operations in North America.
