They have to do something to make all the sidewalk sissies think that they're actually doing something.

Thanks for posting the cutlery topic and pics. Coincidentally I had been browsing some, considering something more modern and capable for pocket carry. My Dad is the knife collector, so eventually will get him started on about knives for an hour or two, sooner or later. He's more of an impulse buyer, so probably a lot of hardware store stuff. Could surprise me though. Every now and then he'll come up with something unexpected.

I used to have a nice (cheap) 2" Gerber with a plastic handle, until someone relieved it from me. Or maybe I misplaced it and it will turn up some day. It was so light it even could have fell out of my pocket when under a truck or something and I never felt it.

This one I use around the house and is most likely dropped in a pocket if I expect to need it. I'm pretty sure it's one of Dad's old pocket knives he either gave me or forgot about. I know I've had it at least 25 yrs give or take. According to the internet braintrust, these were sold in the late '60's and just before a remarkable decline in quality of Case products. It needs a thorough cleaning and the blades will probably polish reasonably well. Although there is some pitting that's a bit deep to polish out. I've been lazy and hit it with a cheap steel sharpener for a good enough edge to slice envelopes open without tearing. In the past, using a good whetstone, it will take a razor sharp edge.
