Yep, one main thing to remember is that whenever you haul a compartment of dyed #2, you don't want to load clear #2 behind it on the next load. Always make sure dispatch knows to give you a load of gasoline behind a load of dyed #2 to "wash it out".

My dispatchers have to be reminded about this every week.

    Your post is very true.

And I cannot truthfully say I never stuffed a tank.

But the Frequent Poster is talking about things he knows nothing about, (again) and I didn't want the OP to get bad information.

In the old Cherokee on I think I-85 near the GA line I ran into a new ownership FULL of them.

It was a eyeopening encounter. I felt like I had no value as one would wipe a bit of dirt out of the boot. I left there considering very carefully my future in trucking, this was about two months before 9-11. Sheer happenstance.

I am hoping to this day there might still be a couple of old time truckstops with that old down home vittles and good converstation if at all possible. The old 501 dixie 76 comes to mind, its probably rusted out and gone by now. But if you wanted a place that was quiet so you can take care of everything that was one place to go. No worries about losing your front ends.

Never happened to me, but there weren't as many middle eastern proprietors when I started hauling gas.

No, I've never had a middle eastern type ask me to cross dump. We deliver to quite a few of them and they seem to play straight.
I have had a born and bred Californian of European descent ask me to mix a little regular in the super tank. I know his ethnicity because I went to school with him. He was a sleaze then and he's a sleaze now.
Somebody's ancestry doesn't have much bearing on whether or not they're a crook...except to a few people who don't know any better..

We had one stop that was famous for ordering to much NL ......

he’d say just throw 500 gals over........

And he wasn’t a middle easterner.

I’ll take the 5th even tho the statue of limitations is probably up.

We had a guy like that. He always ordered more than he knew would fit. Especially on a Friday or Saturday night. The first couple of times we hung out and waited for patronage to lower the tanks.
The third time we took the remainder of the load back to the pipeline, pumped it off, and charged him for it.
    He doesn't over-order anymore.

As stated, you won't have 6 stops with a 4 compartment trailer. Each tank at the station is "sticked" or measured to see if it will hold the amount you are carrying. We have tank charts that show how many gallons at each inch on the stick. If it won't hold it, you take the product elsewhere.
If tank is not empty, we have a dry break for retains at the rack, we just drain the rest off.
The only time tank is fumigated (we call it blowdown) is when it is going to be put inside the shop for maintenance or repairs. Can't have fumes inside a building.
If there is just a bit of residue, yes we load on top of it. A couple gallons mixed with 1000 or or more won't be noticeable.
Diesel is loaded warm, and won't gel in the time going to the station.

I switch from gas to diesel and back regularly. I have even hauled biofuel to the rack to mix with diesel, and did a week of hauling ethanol, with the same trailer, no washout.

To add one more thing, our refinery sells to Country Fair (Citgo) and many other stations. Some of the oil comes via pipeline from Canada, not Venezuela. Some comes via rail, not sure of the origin of that, but we're a long ways from Venezuela.

I loaded jet after diesel many times. Used to deliver to little airports that had us inject prist as we pumped off. I always wondered if they tested the fuel before using it.
